Dear
Alumni, Friends and Fans of UMass Lowell Athletics,

On February 14, 2013, UMass Lowell officially announced its entrance into Division I and the America East Conference. With that announcement we begin a new era, not just for the athletics program but for the University and the region.  Division I athletics will help to position the institution regionally and nationally in a way that otherwise would not be possible.

Elevating to Division I is testimony to the abilities and accomplishments of decades of student-athletes who enjoyed enormous success and brought great distinction to the institution. We will face some challenges, as we now ask our Athletics program to step onto the premier stage of intercollegiate sports, and as we enter this new phase we are asking our student-athletes, fans and supporters to grow with us to a new level of commitment.
The transition to Division I will align the University of Massachusetts Lowell with peer institutions on the field and in the classroom – exactly where we belong.  Ensuring future success at the Division I level will depend on the generosity of every member of the University community.  Every gift to the River Hawk Club significantly enhances academic and athletic opportunities for UMass Lowell student-athletes by providing scholarship assistance, improving athletic facilities, increasing operating budgets and funding events for River Hawk alumni and friends.  Please make a gift to the River Hawk Club today, and make an immediate impact on our first generation of Division I student-athletes.
Your support of the River Hawk Club will help to reinforce our commitment to excellence and enable our student-athletes to Soar Higher!
Sincerely,
Director of Athletics
