River Hawk Life Skills Challenge The River Hawks Life Skills Challenge is designed to increase student-athlete participation in the fundamental mission of the NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills program. The purpose of the River Hawk Life Skills program is to provide student-athletes with a total development program that emphasizes academic, athletic, personal development, career development and community service support and activities. The River Hawk Life Skills Challenge will utilize the competitive nature of student-athletes to foster friendly rivalries among teams who will ultimately compete for the" River Hawk Spirit" award at the annual River Hawk Athletic Awards Night. The winner of this annual award will exemplify the spirit of what it means to be a UMass Lowell Student-Athlete; one who is committed to academics, athletics and community. The Challenge will involve a standardized point system that rewards teams for participation and achievement in the following areas:
