Jon Boswell is the Associate Athletic Director for Marketing and Promotions at UMass Lowell. Boswell joined the River Hawks in September of 2015 and has led the marketing efforts of the university’s athletic department as they completed the Division I transition.
Since arriving, the River Hawks have led the Hockey East in attendance in 2015-16, 2016-17, 2018-19 and 2021-22. With goals on driving attendance, ticket sales and marketing and branding, his department is in tasked with revenue generation through ticket sales and creating and enhancing the game experience at UMass Lowell Athletic events. Since joining UMass Lowell, the Marketing Department has been recognized with 12Â NACMA medals for marketing. He has spearheaded the department's partnership with INFLCR, as the River Hawk student-athletes embrace the arrival of Name, Image and Likeness opportunities.Â
Boswell serves on numerous committees across campus and within the America East and Hockey East.Â

Before joining the UMass Lowell staff, Boswell had been with the Lowell Spinners since 2008, first working as the director of media relations from 2008-2013 before becoming the assistant general manager/director of marketing in October 2013. In his capacities, he oversaw marketing and communications for the Class-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, while also developing plans to ensure capacity crowds at LeLacheur Park.
During his time with the Spinners, the franchise set records for attendance and revenue, while consistently rating as one of the summer destinations in the region. Boswell oversaw the creation and development of the team's social media presence, directed the team's marketing presence and growth through both paid and organic partnerships and owned and earned media. The team was frequently creating headlines in the region and beyond for their award-winning promotions. As with anyone in the industry, Boswell assisted in ticket sales, non-baseball revenue generating events and operations, while also managing corporate partnership relationships.Â
In the community, he has served as a board member for the March of Dimes and Young Professionals of Greater Lowell and was honored as the 2019 March of Dimes Citizen of the Year.

A native of Woburn, Mass., Boswell earned his bachelor's degree from Duquesne University in marketing, with a concentration of sports marketing, in 2007, and completed his master's degree in sports leadership in 2009. He resides in Pelham, N.H. with his wife, Katie, sons, Cole and Chase.
