EAST STROUDSBURG, PA - Sophomore MH Sarah Coscia (Pittsfield, MA) compiled 27 kills and sophomore OH Jillian Hadder (Yucaipa, CA) added 26 as UMass Lowell defeated Bowie State (3-0) and East Stroudsburg (3-1) Saturday at the East Stroudsburg Volleyball Tournament at the Koehler Field House. The victories extended UMass Lowell's winning streak to six matches entering Wednesday's clash at Bentley (7:30). The River Hawks improved to 13-13 while Bowie State slipped to 12-12 and East Stroudsburg to 15-17. In the first round on Friday night, the River Hawks defeated Adelphi, 3-2 (25-18, 15-25, 25-23, 20-25, 15-12). In the win over Bowie State, Junior OH Elsa LeGrand (Highlands Ranch, CO) compiled 12 kills and four blocks as the River Hawks scored their fourth sweep of the season, 25-17, 25-17, 25-18. Coscia also had 12 kills while Hadder chipped in seven kills and three aces. Junior libero Allie Eide (Gresham, OR) led the defense with nine digs and three aces while junior S Nichole Rondeau (Dracut, MA) dished out 25 assists. In the win over East Stroudsburg, Hadder compiled 19 kills and Coscia 15 as the River Hawks defeated the hosts 25-19, 25-16, 22-25, 26-24. UMass Lowell overcame a 24-21 deficit in the fourth set to emerge with the win as LeGrand served the final four points and finished with 10 kills, eight digs and a pair of blocks. Eide compiled 11 digs while Rondeau had 46 assists and six digs.
