ALBANY, NY – Junior OH Elsa LeGrand (Highlands Ranch, CO) registered 14 kills and nine digs as UMass Lowell defeated the College of Saint Rose, 3-2, Friday night in a Northeast-10 Conference volleyball clash at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The victory halted a five-match losing skein for the River Hawks, who improved to 8-13 overall and 3-5 in the NE-10 entering Saturday’s clash at Le Moyne (12:00). Saint Rose slipped to 11-6 overall and 5-3 in the Conference. UMass Lowell emerged from a 2-1 deficit and earned its first five-set win this season: 25-14, 20-25, 18-25, 25-23, 15-11. LeGrand also added five blocks while sophomore MH Sarah Coscia (Pittsfield, MA) added 11 kills and sophomore OH Jillian Hadder (Yucaipa, CA) eight kills and five digs. Junior DS Allie Eide (Gresham, OR) led the defense with 20 kills while junior S Nichole Rondeau (Dracut, MA) dished out 30 assists in addition to nine digs and four kills. Sophomore MH Kelly Ryan led the Golden Knights with 16 kills and four blocks while freshman OH Marilyn Glamack chipped in eight kills, 12 digs and four service aces. Freshman S Theresa Staulo compiled 43 assists.
