Following a magnificent showing at the Boston University Terrier Invitational over the weekend, four UMass Lowell women's and men's track and field student-athletes received weekly plaudits from the Northeast-10 Conference on Tuesday.

Seniors Haley Catarius (Marshfield, MA) and Jacqui Barrett (Woburn, MA) received NE-10 women's track and field athlete of the week honors while junior Donte Brown (Raynham, MA) and freshman Evan White (Tewksbury, MA) were named the men's track athlete and track freshman of the week.

Catarius, who earned the honor for the second time in three weeks, and Brown both provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championship in two events. Catarius placed fifth overall - tops among collegiate athletes - in the 800 meters in 2:13.35 and also ran a 57.2-second leg on UMass Lowell's 4X400 meter relay team which placed fourth overall (first) in 3:54.75.

Catarius' result in the 800 meters currently ranks second in the country while the 4X400 team is eighth on the NCAA Division II list.

Brown placed fourth overall (first among Division II sprinters) in the 400 meter dash in 47.94 seconds, the third-fastest time in the country this season. He also ran a 49.03-second split on UMass Lowell's 4X400 meter relay team which placed second overall and first among college foursomes in 3:15.64, currently the second-fastest result in the country.

Barrett, who eclipsed her personal best result for the fourth time this season, took second overall and tops among collegiate throwers in the shot put with a distance of 47 feet, 5.75 inches, which ranks fourth on the Division II list.

White bested all collegiate runners and placed third overall in the 200 meter dash, eclipsing the school record with a time of 21.63 seconds, behind only Edino Steel (21.07) of Zenith Velocity and independent runner Marvin Lewis (21.56).

White edged the previous record of 21.82 seconds set by Lawrence Aidoo in 2006 and currently stands third on the Division II list.

UMass Lowell enters the Yale University Giegengack Invitational Friday and Saturday.
