Freshman Dana Jamieson (Sudbury, MA) won the 600 meters and shattered a school record to lead the UMass Lowell women's track and field team at the Tufts University Stampede Saturday at the Gantcher Sports and Convocation Center.

The non-scoring meet drew athletes from Division I, II and III schools across New England.

Jamieson, a transfer from the University of Kentucky representing UMass Lowell for the first time this season, won the 600 meters with a time of 1:36.63 and edged the previous school record of 1:37.04 set by Katie Hitchcock at the 1994 ECAC indoor championship at Smith College.

Sophomore Patricia Brice (Chelmsford, MA) placed second in 1:37.08, the third-fastest time in UMass Lowell history, while freshman Jayson-Ann Wright (Bronx, NY) placed seventh in 1:41.10.

Jamieson, Brice and Wright also led UMass Lowell's 4X400 meter relay team to first place in 4:03.41. Jamieson led off with a 59.1-second leg while Brice followed in 59.7 seconds. Freshman Amy Pflanz (Burlington, MA) ran a 62.9-second split and Wright anchored in 61.1 seconds.

Junior Jacqui Barrett (Woburn, MA) captured her fourth shot put title this season, throwing for a distance of 44 feet, 1.5 inches. Sophomore Bethany Staiti (Barre, MA) placed eighth with a toss of 38' 1.5''.

Freshman Ashley Zielinski (Manchester, NH) won the 55 meter hurdles in 8.47 seconds and placed seventh in the 200 meter dash in 27.29. Sophomore Eunice Delice (Methuen, MA) placed third in the 55 hurdles in 9.09.

UMass Lowell was well-represented in the sprints, particularly by junior Sharikka Finley-Moise (Lexington, MA), who placed fourth in the 55 meter dash in 7.44 seconds and sixth in the 200 meters in 27.14.

Finley-Moise was one of a host of River Hawks to finish among the top in the sprints. Freshman Cachet Chesson (Randolph, MA) placed sixth in the 55 meters (7.48) and eighth in the 200 meters (27.43). Junior Prisna Doriscat (Boston, MA) led UMass Lowell in the 400 meters, placing sixth in 64.09 seconds.

Chesson also took fifth in the long jump with a distance of 16' 3.25'', just behind junior Haley Catarius (Marshfield, MA), who placed third with a distance of 16' 6.5''. Catarius also took ninth in the triple jump (34' 2.0''), just behind senior Sarah Brassard (Oxford, MA), who took seventh (34' 8.25) and ahead of junior Heather McCarthy (Burlington, MA), who placed 10th (34' 0.75).
