Seniors Haley Catarius (Marshfield, MA) and Jacqui Barrett (Woburn, MA) each improved their standing on the NCAA Division II qualifying list to lead the UMass Lowell women's track and field team at the Yale Giegengack Invitational Friday and Saturday at Coxe Cage.

The River Hawks were one only five Division II and III teams to compete at the meet, which drew the likes of Providence, Rutgers, Monmouth and Brown.

Catarius, who posted the second-fastest 800 meters time in the country last week (school record 2:13.35), placed second and again eclipsed the school-record in 2:11.91 just behind Kate Grace of Yale who won the title in 2:11.80.

With the result, Catarius remains at No. 2 on the NCAA Division II list just behind Annan Applebee (2:11.53) of Western Oregon.

Barrett placed third in the shot put with a throw of 48 feet, 5.5 inches - nearly a foot past her previous personal best toss of 47' 5.75'' last week at Boston University. Barrett's result placed behind Brynn Smith (49' 6.5'') and Danielle Grunloh (49' 6.5''), both of Brown.

Freshman Robyn Ciriello (Salem, NH) took ninth overall - second among Division II throwers - with a distance of 37' 5.0''.
