Stacey Lajoie, a senior from Gardner, MA, was named the Northeast-10 Conference Softball Player of the Week Monday after leading UMass Lowell to a 4-2 clip last week.
Lajoie batted .500 (10 for 20) with 12 runs, seven stolen bases (in seven attempts), six RBI and four walks as UMass Lowell swept Stonehill (6-2, 6-2) and Saint Michael’s (9-1, 8-3) before capping the season Sunday with losses to American International College (2-0, 10-8/10 innings).
Lajoie opened the week hitting 4 for 6 with five runs, three RBI and three stolen bases in the sweep of Stonehill. She followed with identical numbers in the wins over Saint Michael’s.
In the losses to AIC, Lajoie came back from an 0 for 3 effort in the first game with a 2 for 5, two-run showing in the nightcap.
Lajoie ends her career at UMass Lowell the all-time leader in home runs (21) and games played (208).
UMass Lowell capped the season with a 10-31-1 overall record and a 9-18-1 clip in the NE-10.
