Following a sterling career from 2007-10, Sammy Macy enters her first year as a member of the UMass Lowell field hockey coaching staff.

A three-time All-American by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA), Macy helped UMass Lowell post a four-year record of 81-14 (.853) which included the 2010 NCAA Championship and four appearances in the NCAA title game. Additionally, the River Hawks captured three Northeast-10 Conference regular season championships (2007, 2008, 2010) and two tournament crowns (2007, 2010).

Along the way, Macy was a three-time NE-10 First Team All-Conference standout, including the Player of the Year in 2009.

UMass Lowell's all-time leading scorer, Macy compiled 91 goals and 38 assists (220 points), which ranks second all-time among NCAA Division II scorers. Additionally, Macy's 38 assists ranks second among UMass Lowell's career leaders.

As a senior, Macy was the catalyst with a school-record 30 goals and 14 assists en route to a 24-0 season (10-0 in the NE-10). She notched a single game record five goals along with one assist in a 6-0 win at Indiana (Pa.).

Perhaps most impressive, Macy battled back from two anterior cruciate ligament tears over her career, emerging a stronger player each year.

In June, Macy was presented the 2010-11 Honda/Collegiate Women Sports Award for Division II Female Athlete of the Year, in so becoming the first field hockey recipient in the award's 24-year history.

In February, Macy is expected to join the Labrador Hockey Club in Queensland, Australia.

A criminal justice major, Macy graduated with a 3.12 cumulative average. She lives in Tewksbury, Mass.
