Nov. 1, 2009 Photo Gallery: Second Annual River Hawk Hoop Fest
The UMass Lowell men's and women's basketball teams, in conjunction with Student Activities & Leadership and the Department of Athletics, will host the Second Annual River Hawk Hoop Fest in Costello Gym on Wednesday, Nov. 4 beginning at 7:00 p.m. "Hoop Fest is an example of teamwork among the many university groups, students and departments," head women's basketball coach Kathy O'Neil said."We would like to build on last year's event and hope to see the Second Annual River Hawk Hoop Fest be better than ever." "Last year's Hoop Fest was a major success for all of our students, fans and athletes," agreed men's basketball head coach Greg Herenda. "Everyone will hopefully come back and bring a friend this year." Fans can enjoy free pizza, t-shirts to the first 100 students and prizes throughout the evening. Special prizes will be awarded for best dressed school spirit costume, throw for dough contest, $10,000 shootout and a free textbook giveaway. Other prizes include cash, restaurant gift cards, Celtics tickets and gear. "There is already a buzz on campus about the event and I know our players are very excited about Wednesday night," Herenda said.
