Sophomore Cory Murray (Methuen, MA) won the shot put and set a meet record to lead the UMass Lowell men’s track and field team at the George Davis Invitational Saturday at the Cushing Field Complex.
The meet drew athletes from Division II and III schools as well as many athletes representing postgraduate track and field clubs.
Murray was one of five UMass Lowell athletes who won titles on the day. Murray threw the shot put 51 feet, 4.5 inches and established nearly a nine-foot gap on the rest of the field. The throw eclipsed the previous meet record of 50’ 4.0’’ set by former UMass Lowell standout Rocky LeFort last year.
