LOWELL, Mass. (Mar. 16, 2009) - Sophomore center Scott Campbell (Navan, Ont.) was named the Reebok Player of the Week, the Hockey East Association announced Monday.
Mark Roebothan (St. John's, Nfld.) and David Vallorani (Hamilton, Ont.) were named to the Hockey East Top Performers list.
Campbell had four points on two goals and two assists in UMass Lowell's two-game sweep of Vermont in the 2009 Hockey East Quarterfinals. He picked up the primary assist, setting up the game-winning goal with two seconds left in overtime on Friday night (a 4-3 UML win).
Campbell scored two third period goals and added an assist for a three-point night in Saturday's 4-2 win. He scored the game-winning goal and iced the game with an empty netter in the final minute of play.
The sophomore center is tied for the team-lead with 28 points. He has 13 goals and 15 assists in 36 games. This is the second time this season Campbell has been named the Hockey East Player of the Week (Dec. 1).
Roebothan had three assists in the weekend sweep. He earned an assist on the game-winner Friday and picked up two assists in Saturday's win. Roebothan has a three-game point streak (1 goal, 3 assists).
Vallorani had three points on a goal and two assists over the weekend, his first two games of playoff experience. The rookie center made his playoff debut on Friday and picked up a goal and an assist. He earned another assist in Saturday's win.
The River Hawks have four straight and are 11-4-2 over their last 17 games. They swept Vermont at Gutterson Fieldhouse in the Hockey East Quarterfinals to advance to the tournament semifinals for the first time since 2002.
UMass Lowell will play Northeastern in the first Hockey East Semifinal game (5:00 p.m.) at the TD Banknorth Garden. The Huskies eliminated Massachusetts in three games in their Quarterfinal series.
