Our first on ice session was scheduled for today so we arrived at Ristuccia arena roughly around 9 a.m. this morning, and almost immediately jumped into a team stretch. The first hour on ice was a high intensity, up tempo practice, while the second hour was power skating. We ran through a variety of different shooting drills, flow drills, some 1 on 1's, 2 on 1's, 3 on 2's and lastly a battle drill. After practice, we were given about 10 minutes to regroup, the ice was flooded, and we came back out for the power skating part. The purpose behind the power skating was to break down our strides and work on skating technique as well as our edges, inside and out, from both legs. It almost felt like a plyometric workout, except on the ice. This session was a lot tougher than we had originally thought. And I'm not going to lie, this second hour had the ability to make us feel pretty bad about ourselves as hockey players, haha. I mean, we're all here at camp thinking we're pretty good at hockey, then do a power skating session and all struggle. It was tough, but it was beneficial and I think very instrumental. The idea behind breaking down the stride is to help improve the small weakness we all have that may have been overlooked as we grew up. Finding those small weaknesses and working to correct them will ultimately help us all become better skaters.

Following the two hour ice time, we jumped right into the weight room and had an hour long off-ice workout. The staff was around the entire time, correcting form and making sure everyone was comfortable doing all the exercises. After the workout, we ate lunch at the rink then returned to the hotel for a little bit of down time.

At 4 p.m. we headed into Boston to grab a bite to eat, and then were treated to the Red Sox game. We had our own box and it was just an awesome experience. We actually ended up leaving before the conclusion of the game because the weather down here is RIDICULOUS. It's July and we were absolutely freezing at the ball park.

Well, another day in the books. Again, thanks for all the support!
