Senior Matt Twomey (Salem, MA) carded a two-day 154 as the UMass Lowell golf team placed seventh in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship Sunday and Monday at the par 72 Crumpin Fox Golf Club. Adelphi, in its first season in the Conference, won the team title with rounds of 311-309—620 to edge American International College (310-313—623) and Southern New Hampshire (310-322—632). Le Moyne placed fourth with a 328-306—634 and was followed by Bentley (324-316—640) and Saint Anselm (331-310—641). Twomey, who was named to the NE-10 All-Conference Second Team, shot rounds of 75 and 79 to finish 10 strokes over par while junior Thomas Ayala (East Taunton, MA) shot rounds of 81-76—157 to place 13th. Freshman Travis Kellegrew (Chelmsford, MA) shot an 80-86—166 to place tied for 37th while senior Brendan Livingston (Westford, MA) carded a 90-79—169 to place 48th. Sophomore Brandon Robinson (Hampstead, NH) rounded out UMass Lowell’s effort with an 87-88—175, good for a tie for 51st. Shane Winslow of Southern New Hampshire earned medalist honors with a 72-78—150 after defeating Adelphi’s Stuart Pulkinen (77-73—150) in a three-hole playoff. The Tournament drew 60 players representing all 12 NE-10 schools which sponsor golf. UMass Lowell enters the Southern New Hampshire Invitational Sunday and Monday at the Manchester Country Club in Bedford, NH. |
