Senior Brendan Livingston (Westford, MA) scored a two-round 154 to lead the UMass Lowell golf team to seventh place at the Dowling September Shootout Sunday and Monday at the par-71 Long Island National Golf Course. UMass Lowell compiled a score of 621 – highlighted by a sterling 305 for the first round which pitted the River Hawks in a tie for second place – but dropped to seventh following a 316 for Monday’s second round. Wilmington (Del.) College won the team title with a 298-300—598 while Post University (306-302—608) placed second and American International College (308-302—610) placed third. Le Moyne (305-306—611) placed third and was followed by Nyack College (301-318—619) and Adelphi (310-310—320). Livingston carded a 78 for Sunday’s round and improved two strokes on Monday for a 76 to finish 12 strokes over. Junior Thomas Ayala (East Taunton, MA) and freshman Travis Kellegrew (Chelmsford, MA) shared 23rd place as Ayala carded a 75-80—155 and Kellegrew a 73-82—155. Seniors Matt Twomey (Salem, MA) and Patrick Bean (Fitchburg, MA) finished in a tie for 46th as Twomey shot a 79-82—161 and Bean an 83-78—161. Daniel Ott of Wilmington College won medalist honors with a 71-68—139. UMass Lowell enters the Northeast-10 Conference Championship Sunday and Monday at the Crumpin Fox Golf Course in Bernardston, MA. |
