Senior Brendan Livingston (Westford, MA) carded a two-round score of 152 to lead the UMass Lowell men's golf team to a share of ninth place at the Northeast Intercollegiate Championship Sunday and Monday at Wintonbury Hills (CT) Golf Club. UMass Lowell compiled a score of 314-318--632 and tied for ninth place with Bentley (312-320--632). American International College won the team title with a 294-297--591 while Wilmington (DE) placed second (305-300--605) ahead of Adelphi (302-308--610), Le Moyne (313-300--613) and host Post University (313-307--620). The tournament drew 84 players representing 17 teams. Livingston finished the first round in second place as he shot a 70, but fell to ninth with an 82 for the second round. Senior Patrick Bean (Fitchburg, MA) placed in a tie for 37th with a 77-82--159 while senior Matt Twomey (Salem, MA) finished tied for 39th with an 84-76--160. Junior Thomas Ayala (East Taunton, MA) placed in a tie for 52nd with an 86-78--164 while freshman Travis Kellegrew (Chelmsford, NH) rounded out UMass Lowell's effort in 67th with an 83-87--170. Greg Strattner (69-75--144) and Kevin Daniels (73-71--144) of American International College shared medalist honors. UMass Lowell enters the Dowling Invitational Sunday and Monday at Long Island National in Riverhead, NY. |
