Junior Patrick Bean (Fitchburg, MA) carded a two-day score of 159 to place in a tie for 10th and helped the UMass Lowell golf team to fourth place at the American International College Yellow Jacket Invitational Monday and Tuesday at the par 72 Springfield Country Club.
UMass Lowell shot a combined 651 – 332 for Monday’s round and 319 on Tuesday.
Adelphi won the team title with a 317-302—619 while the host Yellow Jackets took second with a 323-301—624 and Southern New Hampshire third with a 329-317—646.
Assumption (653), Le Moyne (656) and Saint Michael’s finished fifth through seventh while Franklin Pierce (676), Saint Rose (680) and Pace (686) completed the field.
Bean carded an 80 for the first round and a 79 on Tuesday while sophomore Tom Ayala (East Taunton, MA) fired an 85-79—164 to place tied for 22nd.
Senior Anthony Gallardo (Methuen, MA) fired an 87 Monday, but also improved with a 79 (166) Tuesday to place tied for 25th while sophomore Matt Twomey (Salem, MA) shot an 80-88—168 placed tied for 29th. Junior Brendan Livingston (Westford, MA) placed 31st with an 87-82—169.
AIC’s Garrett Beyor earned medalist honors with a 74-70—144, establishing a seven-stroke lead on the remainder of the field.
The Tournament drew 50 players representing 10 colleges.
UMass Lowell awaits NCAA Tournament pairings to be announced Friday.
