Gary Mucica is currently in his sixth year of directing the rebuilding of the UMass Lowell Golf Team. When not coaching golf he is the University's Director of Graduate Management Programs.

An eight handicap member of Andover Country Club and a former player for Lowell Technological Institute, one of the university's predecessor institutions, his program has produced All-Northeast-10 Conference First Team players in each of his first five years and last year two Second Team All-Conference players as well. He has also had two members of the NE-10 All-Academic team and in 2007-2008 the team won the conference Sportsmanship Award.

In each of his seasons the River Hawks have improved steadily and in 2008-2009 finished runner-up in the NE-10 Championship. In 2005-2006 and 2006-2007, the team qualified an individual for the NCAA East/Northeast Super Regional Tournament. In 2007-2008 the team qualified for the NCAA East/Northeast Super Regional and in 2008-2009 they qualified for the NCAA Atlantic/East Super Regional Tournament. This year's team looks to challenge again for the conference championship and another NCAA Tournament selection.

Mucica is currently serving his third and final year as the Northeast-10 Conference representative on the NCAA East Region Selection Committee. He is also serving his second and final year as the Golf Coaches Committee Chair to the Northeast-10 Conference.

A 1971 Graduate of Lowell Technological Institute, Mucica joined the College of Management after nearly 30 years in senior sales and marketing management in the consumer products industry, retiring from The Clorox Company after 18 years.

In 2003 Mucica received the Francis Cabot Lowell Alumnus of the Year Award for Management. He also holds an MBA degree from the Sawyer School of Management at Suffolk University.

Mucica and his wife Sally live in North Andover, MA.
