Freshman guard Kyle Caiola (Parma, OH) was named the Northeast-10 Conference Freshman of the Week Wednesday as the Conference announced its final weekly awards with the close of the NCAA Tournament East Regional.
The honor marked the third time Caiola earned the distinction. Earlier this month, he was named the NE-10 Freshman of the Year.
UMass Lowell (21-8) ended a stellar season last Saturday when it suffered an 86-84 loss in overtime to Merrimack in the NCAA Tournament East Regional first round at C.W. Post.
Caiola compiled 20 points and three assists while shooting 7 for 14 from the field and 6 for 6 from the free throw line, playing all but a few seconds of the 45 minutes.
Sophomore G Max Kerman (Watertown, MA) and junior G Kevin Carr (Lancaster, OH) were each named to the Weekly Honor Roll. Kerman scored a career-high 20 points and grabbed five rebounds in the loss while shooting 6 for 12 from the floor and 7 for 8 from the free throw line.
Carr added 17 points, five rebounds and six assists, hitting 4 of 8 attempts from 3-point range.
