LOWELL, Mass. (Apr. 4, 2009) – Graeme Clohosey (Derry, N.H.) had two hits and scored the game-winning run as UMass Lowell defeated American International, 4-3, in Northeast-10 baseball action at LeLacheur Park Saturday afternoon. The game was the first half of a doubleheader.

The River Hawks have won three straight and improve to 14-6 overall and 7-3 in the NE-10. The Yellow Jackets have had their two-game win streak snapped. They fall to 4-17 overall and 2-7 in league play.

The River Hawks never led until the eighth inning when they took a 4-3 lead. UML scored a single run in the fourth and two more in the sixth to tie the game.

Sean Burns plated the winning run with a single to left center. Clohosey, who was 2-for-3 with two singles and a hit by pitch, scored on Burns’ two-out base hit.

The Yellow Jackets scored all three of their runs on three hits in the top of the third inning. Dan Fey (Plymouth, Mass.) and Kevin Farrell (Wilbraham, Mass.) each had RBI singles in the inning.

Neither starting pitcher figured into the decision. UML’s Kyle Davis (Rocherster, N.H.) allowed three runs on four hits in seven innings, but left with the score tied.

AIC’s Sean Stevenson (Holyoke, Mass.) left the game with the lead after five innings, but got the no decision after Geoff McCowat (Sterling, Va.) allowed one run on two hits in three innings. McCowat dropped to 0-4 on the year.

Freshman Bryan Guilmette (Hopkinton, Mass.) picked up the win in relief. He allowed just one hit in one inning of work to improve to 1-1 on the year.

Dallas Nunes (Easton, Mass.) worked a scoreless ninth to earn his sixth save of the season.

Tim Keene (Berlin, N.H.) joined Clohosey with two hits in the game. Burns had a game-high two RBI.

Dan Bassani (Naples, Fla.) was the only Yellow Jacket with two hits.
