The UMass Lowell baseball squad (3-4) split Sunday's double-header with West Chester (10-3). Senior JT Leary (Newburyport, MA) finished the day six-for-eight at the plate with a pair of home runs and nine RBI.

The River Hawks started the day hot, earning an 11-8 victory in game one. Junior hurler Dustin Ramey (Kingston, NH) picked up his first win of the season, gutting through six-plus innings while surrendering seven earned runs. Senior righty Matt Monico (Tewksbury, MA) earned the save, pitching three innings of one run baseball to secure the UMass Lowell victory.

Leary dominated at the plate, batting three-for-four with four RBI. In the third inning, Leary connected on an opposite field three-run home run to put the River Hawks up 10-3. Luke Wallace (Yorktown Heights, NY) also collected three hits and two RBI, while Jared Notargiacomo (Newburyport, MA) went four-for-five with an RBI.

In game two UMass Lowell came up just short, falling 7-6 to the Golden Rams. Freshman Garrett Cole (Manchester, NH) was saddled with the loss, allowing seven runs in three innings. Ted Haley (Cranston, RI) and Tyler Toyfair (Agawam, MA) combined to pitch a scoreless remainder, keeping the River Hawks in the contest.

Leary did his part again, collecting five RBI including a grand slam in the top of the third inning. For the day, Leary tallied nine RBI, six hits and two home runs. Cam Kneeland (Rowley, MA) knocked in UMass Lowell's only other run.

The River Hawks had an opportunity to tie the score in the fifth inning after loading the bases with no outs. UMass Lowell was unable to capitalize and for the game, the River Hawks left seven men on base.

UMass Lowell will have the week off before heading south for the program's annual trip to Florida. The six day, nine game excursion will start with a double-header on Friday with St. Thomas Aquinas at 10 a.m.
