And once he is focused, the 5-foot-5 infielder from Winchester is capable of just about anything. He proved that this summer, playing for the Webster Yankees of the New York Collegiate Baseball League. [+]

It's hard to tell what's rising faster for Jack Leathersich these days: the velocity on his fastball or his chances of becoming a big league pitcher. After wrapping up a memorable summer pitching in the prestigious Cape Cod League, the Beverly native's heat is topping out around 96 miles per hour. The lefty is consistently hitting 90-plus MPH on the radar gun and relished the chance to prove himself against some of the country's best prospects on Cape Cod. [+]

Bryan Deuel faced a dilemma. His coach, Dave Brust, asked him to get ready. It was the ninth inning, and the Webster Yankees trailed in the deciding game of the New York Collegiate Baseball League's West Division semi-finals. Brust used a pinch runner for Yankee starting catcher, Ollie Bertrand. If the home nine scored, the Yankee skipper needed Deuel behind the plate in the bottom half of the frame. [+]
