River Hawk Spirit - It's fun, it's occasionally crazy, but supporting your varsity classmates should be fun and often wild and crazy! The best way to join in the action is to attend games or by becoming a member of the Blue Fan Group.

The Blue Fan Group’s mission is to promote and build school spirit on campus by sponsoring campus wide events, which encourage the University community to attend and create/uphold school traditions.

Campus groups compete for the River Hawk Spirit Challenge, which awards $1,000 for charity and includes dinner for the winners at the Chancellor's house!

Exciting events are held throughout the year – including Hockey First Night, Homecoming, and River Hawk Service Week.

First Annual Spirit Day

The Annual Spirit Day will be held each year as a lead-in to the first home hockey game.  Spirit Day this year is October 26, with the first home hockey weekend games scheduled for October 26 & 27.  Spirit Day activities include:

• Friday, October 26 (3:00 p.m.–5:30 p.m.)
  • First Annual “Set the Record Rally”
    • The objective of the “Set the Record Rally” is to establish a new student attendance record each year at the first home hockey game.  Lead-in activities include:
      • Outdoor barbecue at the Campus Recreation Center
      • Co-ed street hockey competition
      • Music provided by radio station Jammin’ 94.5 FM as part of their Campus Invasion Tour.
    • At 5:45 p.m. the UML band will lead the students to the hockey game at the Tsongas Arena, and the attendance record will be announced at the end of the first period.
