The mission of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by: promoting leadership opportunities, protecting student-athlete welfare, fostering a positive student-athlete image and providing educational and community service opportunities. SAAC membership consists of a minimum of one elected representative from each of the department's varsity teams. The Senior Associate Athletic Director shall be the liaison with the SAAC, and the group shall meet at least monthly.

The Student-Athlete Advisory Council serves as the collective voice for all student-athletes at UMass Lowell. The general responsibilities of the council are as follows:

• to provide input into the operational procedures that affect student-athletes (dining hall and housing privileges);
• to develop strategies to better involve student-athletes in community-related activities; and
• to disseminate important information to the other members of their teams.
