Nick Master Named Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week

LOWELL, Mass. – UMass Lowell freshman center Nick Master (Broomall, Penn.), who scored twice as the River Hawks took three out of four points from Hockey East rival Notre Dame last weekend, has been named the Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week.

Master scored a power play goal in each of the River Hawks games against Notre Dame. His goal on Friday night gave UMass Lowell a 1-0 lead in an eventual 2-2 tie. Saturday night his third period goal broke a 1-1 tie and propelled the River Hawks to a 3-1 win.

The goals were Master's second and third of the season. All three of his goals have been "clutch" in that they have either tied the score or given the River Hawks a lead. He leads the team in clutch goals.

Master is among the Hockey East leaders in both power play goals (3) and scoring among freshmen with eight points (3g, 5a.)

This is the third time this season that a UMass Lowell player has been honored by Hockey East. Senior goalie Kevin Boyle has twice been honored by as the Defensive Player of the Week prior to Master earning the spotlight this week. Boyle was honored on October 19th and again on November 16th.
