River Hawks to Host Bullying Awareness Night

Pre-Game Presentation Scheduled Before December 6 Game

Order Form

UMass Lowell Athletics and the Anti-Hazing Collaborative (AHC) have partnered on the University's first-ever Bullying Awareness Night at the Tsongas Center on Saturday, December 6. Face-off is set for 8:00 p.m. against the Maine Black Bears.

"Bullying and hazing are hot-button issues in all of our communities. We're excited to work with Dennis [Goodwin] and the AHC to provide an opportunity for parents and families to learn more about prevention at one of our events," said Scott Donnelly, Assistant AD for Marketing and Promotions. "Dennis has presented before organizations all across the country, including several of our Division I peers, but his local ties make him a unique voice in our area."

Prior to the evening's game, the AHC, which is based in Haverhill, MA, will sponsor a presentation, designed for school-aged kids and their families to discuss awareness, education and understanding in order to prevent hazing and bullying in the future. The presentation will begin at 6:00 p.m. and is free to anyone with a ticket for the UMass Lowell hockey game against Maine.

Fans interested in attending should contact Jocelyn Prieto at 978-934-5751 or jocelyn_prieto@uml.edu. Tickets can be ordered at a discount using the Bullying Awareness Night form.

In addition, the first 1,000 fans at the game will receive cowbells, courtesy of Enterprise Bank. The game will be televised live on NBC Sports Network.

The Anti-Hazing Collaborative was created to help schools, colleges, universities, athletic organizations, Greek organizations and local communities work to eliminate hazing and bullying. The AHC, based out of Haverhill, was co-founded by Dennis Goodwin and Dr. Dave Cattoi. For more information, visit NoHaze.org.

UMass Lowell is currently ranked #5 in the nation with a 7-2-2 record (4-0-1 Hockey East). Coach Norm Bazin's squad has just one loss in its last seven games (5-1-1).

Tickets for all home games are available now through the Tsongas Center Box Office, online at TsongasCenter.com or by calling 866-722-8780.
