Freshman Connor Hellebuyck (Commerce, Mich.) was named the Hockey East Association Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week Monday after improving to 6-1-0 with last week's 2-1 victory over Providence.

The honor marks the fifth time Hellebuyck has been honored by Hockey East this season. He was named the Defensive Player of the Week on Dec. 10 following a 2-0 shutout of Northeastern on Dec. 8; and on Dec. 17 after a 5-0 win at Harvard Dec. 10.

He was also named the Defensive Player of the Month for December, and earned Rookie of the Week honors on Jan. 7 following a 2-1 victory at Clarkson.

Last Thursday, Hellebuyck stopped 31 shots in a 2-1 victory over Providence to improve to 6-1 this season.
For the year, Hellebuyck has maintained a 1.54 goals against average and a .944 save rate with two shutouts.

With Saturday night's 4-3 victory at No. 11 Boston University, UMass Lowell won its ninth straight game and matched its Division I-era record for consecutive wins. The River Hawks, who inched to No. 15 in the U.S. College Hockey Online poll today, are currently 13-7-1 overall and 7-6-1 in Hockey East.

UMass Lowell visits Northeastern Friday night (7:00) at Matthews Arena and hosts the Huskies Saturday night (7:00) as part of its 'Skating Strides Against Breast Cancer' fundraiser at the Tsongas Center.
