For the fifth straight time and the seventh time in the last eight games the River Hawks scored the game’s first goal. Roebothan netted the goal, his 14th of the season, on the power play at 6:09 of the opening period. Barry Goers (Ivyland, Pa.) and Scott Campbell (Navan, Ont.) had the assists.

The Terriers scored the next three goals in the game beginning with Brian McGuirk’s (Danvers, Mass.) fourth tally of the year at 16:10. Colin Wilson (Winnipeg, Man.) and Ryan Weston (Henniker, N.H.) picked up the assists.

MacArthur scored the first of his two on the night at 17:58 of the first to give BU its first lead of the contest. Matt Gilroy (North Bellmore, N.Y.) and Ewing assisted on the goal.

Higgins added to the BU lead with his 11th goal of the year at the 12:41 mark of the second period. Kevin Shattenkirk (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and MacArthur had the assists.

Maury Edwards cut the BU lead to one with his eighth goal of the season, seventh on the power play, at 1:28 of the third period. Jeremy Dehner (Madison, Wis.) and Worthington assisted on the Edwards’ tally.

Worthington collected his second point of the night with his second goal of the season at 13:43. Kory Falite (Billerica, Mass.) and Edwards picked up the assists.

All three goals for the River Hawks came on the power play. UML was 3-for-5 on the night. The last time the River Hawks scored three power play goals in a game was November 19, 2005 against New Hampshire (3-for-7).

The Terriers were 2-for-4 on the man-advantage. BU out-shot UML 33 to 29 for the game and 17 to 9 in the opening period.

Brett Bennett (Williamsville, N.Y.) stopped 26 UML shots to earn his 15th victory of the season. Carter Hutton (Thunder Bay, Ont.) made 28 saves, but suffered his ninth loss of the year for the UML.

The two-point night for Edwards was his third this season against BU. The freshman defenseman has seven points on four goals and three assists in four games against the Terriers this season.

“We had to be a resilient hockey team this evening,” said UML head coach Blaise MacDonald. “It was nice to get out to the 1-0 lead. We had a great opportunity to go up 2-0. That was a big play, we needed to convert. We battled back from a 3-1 and 4-2 deficit to make it a ballgame; I was proud of our effort, our resiliency and our overall feeling and attitude on the bench that we were going to get it done. Clearly special teams for both sides played a huge role in tonight’s game.”

The seventh-seeded River Hawks and second-seeded Terriers played Game Two of their best-of-three Hockey East Quarterfinal series Saturday night at the Agganis Arena. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
