DeWitt, Sanca 1-2 in 3,000
CAMBRIDGE, MA (Jan. 20, 2008) – Graduate student Stephen DeWitt (Ellsworth, ME) won the 3,000 meters to lead a handful of UMass Lowell distance runners at the Greater Boston Track Club Invitational Sunday afternoon at Harvard’s Gordon Track.
DeWitt won the race in 8:18.99, which ranks as the fastest time in New England this season regardless of Division. Junior Ruben Sanca (Boston, MA) placed second in 8:30.97.
Freshman Angus MacDonald (Methuen, MA) enjoyed a stellar result as he placed fifth in the 800 meter championship division. One of two collegiate runners among the top eight, MacDonald posted a time of 1:57.13.
Freshman Jose DePina (Brockton, MA) took sixth overall and second among college athletes in the unseeded mile in 4:27.79. Junior Rex Radloff (Dedham, MA) topped all collegians and placed seventh overall in the mile championship division with a time of 4:21.59.
UML enters the Boston University Terrier Classic next Saturday.
