UML Hosts American International Saturday
NEW HAVEN, CT (Feb. 19, 2008) – Senior F Ktrice McNeill scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Southern Connecticut State defeated UMass Lowell, 61-43, Tuesday night in a Northeast-10 Conference men’s basketball tilt at the Moore Fieldhouse.
With the loss, UML slipped to 10-15 overall and 7-13 in the NE-10 entering Saturday’s home game against American International (4:00). The Owls halted a nine-game losing skein and improved to 7-18 overall and 3-17 in the Conference.
Senior F Mike Gore (Wilmington, MA) and freshman G Max Kerman (Watertown, MA) led the River Hawks with eight points and five rebounds apiece.
Sophomore G Terron Jones added 13 points and three assists for the Owls.
UML struggled from the floor, shooting .333 (17-51) for the game. SCSU took full advantage, shooting .472 for the game (25-53), including .538 in the second half (14-26).
The Owls posted a 42-30 edge off the glass, including 14-11 on the offensive end, which enabled them to outscore UML 15-8 on second chances.
SCSU led the half, 27-15.
