Baseball: Davis, UMass Lowell Shuts Out Saint Rose, 3-0
Freshman right hander scatters six hits in shutout victory

ALBANY, N.Y. (April 15, 2008) – Kyle Davis (Rochester, N.H.) pitched a complete game, six-hit shutout as UMass Lowell defeated Saint Rose, 3-0, Tuesday afternoon in Northeast-10 baseball action at Bleecker Stadium.

The River Hawks have won five straight and improve to 16-16 overall and 11-5 in the NE-10 with the win. The Golden Knights have lost three straight and fall to 10-23 overall and 8-10 in the NE-10 with the loss.

Davis improved to 2-3 on the season with the win, his first career complete game and shutout. The freshman right hander struck out 10 and scattered six hits over his nine innings of work.

Offensively Luke Wallace (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) provided all the offense the River Hawks needed with a three run home run in the fourth inning. Wallace was 2-for-3 in the game.

Jared Notargiacomo (Newburyport, Mass.) and Sean Burns (Colchester, Vt.) scored on Wallace’s second home run of the season.

Angel Nunez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was the only Golden Knight with multiple hits against Davis. He was 2-for-3 on the day.

Jake Kozar (Norwalk, Conn.) took the loss for Saint Rose. Kozar surrendered the three runs on five hits in eight innings on the mound. He struck out six and walked three.

The River Hawks return to the field Thursday night when they host the Golden Knights in the second half of the home-and-home series this week. Saint Rose does not play again until Thursday’s meeting. Thursday’s game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
