Baseball: Stonehill Defeats UMass Lowell, 4-2
Notargiacomo hits home run, drives in two runs for River Hawks in defeat

EASTON, Mass. (May 3, 2008) – Jared Notargiacomo (Newburyport, Mass.) went 1-for-2 with two RBI, but Stonehill defeated UMass Lowell, 4-2, Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 baseball action at Lou Gorman Field.

The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Skyhawks, who improve to 24-21 overall and 15-13 in the NE-10. The loss drops the River Hawks to 25-22 overall and 17-11 in the NE-10.

Stonehill scored twice in the third inning, and single runs in each the seventh and eighth innings. The River Hawks scored single runs in the fifth and seventh innings.

Dave Fradette, who had a game-high two hits, had an RBI single in the third. Ryan Healey also had an RBI with a sacrifice fly in the seventh.

Notargiacomo produced all the offense for the River Hawks. He had a sacrifice fly in the fifth and hit his team-leading third home run of the season in the seventh.

Nick SantaBarbara improved to 6-3 on the season for Stonehill, allowing two runs on four hits over nine innings of work. SantaBarbara struck out five and walked two.

Kyle Davis got the loss for UML, surrendering three runs, two earned, on four hits over 6.2 innings. Davis struck out four and walked five.

Mark Sakelakos (Peabody, Mass.) worked the final 1.1 innings for the River Hawks. He allowed one run on one hit. The run allowed was just the third Sakelakos allowed this season, in 24.1 innings, and the first since April 10 against Frankin Pierce

The River Hawks and Skyahwks conclude their three-game weekend series with a doubleheader Sunday afternoon. The first game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. at LeLacheur Park.
