Baseball: Burns, UMass Lowell Win Big Over Dominican for Harring's 200th
Burns has 3 hits, 4 runs scored and 2 RBI; one of five River Hawks with multiple hits

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. (April 30, 2008) – Sean Burns (Colchester, Vt.) went 3-for-5 with four runs and two runs batted in as UMass Lowell defeated Dominican, 14-3, Wednesday afternoon in non-conference baseball action at DC Athletic Field.

The River Hawks have won three of four and improve to 23-20 with the win. The Chargers have dropped two straight and fall to 23-22 with the loss.

The victory was also the 200th career win for UML Head Coach Ken Harring, who has an overall record of 200-183, including a 121-74 clip at UMass Lowell.

Burns was one of five players to collect multiple hits for the River Hawks. Tim Keene (Berlin, N.H.), Anthony Santos (Chelmsford, Mass.), Taylor von Kriegenbergh (Stoneham, Mass.) and Graeme Clohosey (Derry, N.H.) also had multiple hits for UML. Keene, von Kriegenbergh and Clohosey each had two hits. Santos joined Burns with three hits.

The River Hawks scored four runs in the first inning, ignited by a two-run single by Clohosey. Santos and von Kriegenbergh also had RBI hits in the first.

UML scored eight more times in the third, collecting six hits and sending 14 batters to the plate. Burns plated a pair with a two-run single to center. Clohosey and von Kriegenbergh also knocked in runs with singles in the third.

Tim Manton (Swansea, Mass.) and Peter Wolstenholme (Fall River, Mass.) each drew bases loaded walks to earn an RBI in the third.

Manton made his third start on the mound this season and improve his record to 3-0. The senior lefty allowed three runs, just one earned, on seven hits over six innings.

The Chargers scored one run in the second and two runs in the third. Sean Brown (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Mario Lopez (Anthony, N.M.) each had RBI hits for Dominican.

Anthony Luciano (Holtsville, N.Y.) took the loss for the Chargers allowing 12 runs, 10 earned, on eight hits over 2.2 innings. Luciano walked five and struck out four.

The River Hawks return to action Thursday afternoon when they travel to Merrimack. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Dominican next plays Thursday when they host Felician College at 3:30 p.m.
