Tim Keene and Jared Notargiacomo each with hit, RBI for River Hawks
LOWELL, Mass. (Mar. 27, 2008) – Chris Hardy (Warwick, R.I.) went 4-for-4 with three RBI as Bentley downed UMass Lowell, 3-2, Thursday afternoon in Northeast-10 baseball action at LeLacheur Park.
The Falcons improve to 8-14 overall and 3-4 in the NE-10 with the win. The River Hawks had their two-game win streak snapped and fall to 5-13 overall, 2-2 in the NE-10 with the loss.
Hardy drove in all three Bentley runs, two in the first and one in the fifth. The Falcons had nine hits and one error on the day.
Hardy knocked in two runs with a two-out first inning triple to right field. The freshman designated hitter singled in the Falcons third run of the contest in the fifth.
In addition to Hardy, Jason Cusumano (Port Chester, N.Y.) and Kevin Vona (Belmont, Mass.) each had two-hit games for the Falcons. Cusumano was 2-for-5, while Vona was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Brett Damato (Commack, N.Y.) scored twice for Bentley.
The River Hawks had two runs on six hits and no errors. Tim Keene (Berlin, N.H.) plated the first of UML’s two runs on the day with a sacrifice fly to center in the first. Jared Notargiacomo (Newburyport, Mass.) had an RBI single in the seventh.
Jarrod Marchesi (Peabody, Mass.) got the start and improved to 3-2 on the season for Bentley. Marrchesi allowed two runs, one earned, on five hits over seven innings on the mound. He recorded five strikeouts.
Ricardo Sullivan (Wayland, Mass.) picked up his first save of the season. He pitched two shutout innings, allowing just one hit.
Kyle Davis (Rochester, N.H.) started and took the loss for the River Hawks. Davis gave up three runs on six hits over six innings of work. He struck out five, walked two and hit four batters.
Mark Sakelakos (Peabody, Mass.), Matt Monico (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Derek Anderson (Dracut, Mass.) combined to pitch three shutout innings of relief for UML.
The River Hawks return to the field Saturday for a double header with Saint Anselm. The twin bill starts at noon. UML and the Hawks also play a single game at LeLacheur Park on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The Falcons play Southern Connecticut this weekend.
