LOWELL, Mass. (April 7, 2008) – Dan White (left, Southboro, Mass.) was named the Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon. Anthony Santos (right, Chelmsford, Mass.) was named to the Weekly Honor Roll.

White pitched a complete game, two-hit shutout Saturday afternoon in the first game of UMass Lowell’s doubleheader with Southern New Hampshire. The River Hawks won the game 2-0.

White struck out two while allowing just the two hits. From the first inning to the fourth inning White retired 13 straight Penmen. He threw 107 pitches, 65 for strikes.

White is 1-3 on the season with a 5.28 earned run average (ERA) in six appearances, six starts. He has pitched 29.0 innings in his six outings.

Santos (Chelmsford, Mass.) hit .308 with five runs scored and four runs batted in (RBI) on the week to be named to the NE-10 Honor Roll. Santos was 4-for-6 two runs and two RBI in UML’s 9-5 win over Saint Anselm.

Santos has a .313 average with 21 hits, 11 runs and 13 RBI in 19 games this season.

The River Hawks went 6-1 on the week with three wins over Southern New Hampshire, two over Saint Anselm and one over Southern Connecticut. UML is 11-14 overall and 8-3 in the Northeast-10 this season.
