Joan Lehoullier enters her 16th year in the UMass Lowell Athletic Department, having been named Senior Associate Athletic Director in 1997. Lehoullier began her tenure on the River Hawk staff in 1993 as the Director of Recreational Sports before being named Assistant Athletic Director in 1995.

Lehoullier spearheads the development of the student-athletes off the playing field, overseeing the NCAA Life Skills Program at UML, community service initiatives, and serves as the advisor to the UML Student-Athlete Advisory Committe (SAAC). During her time at UMass Lowell, Lehoullier developed and currently teaches the life skills course for first-year student-athletes. Lehoullier oversees NCAA compliance, student-athlete development, community service initiatives and also acts as the advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). She also oversees many of the UML sports programs and manages internal operations. Additionally, Lehoullier is a eleven-year volunteer with the management team for the Special Olympics Middlesex Area Games.

At the national level, Lehoullier served as a faculty appointment at the NCAA National Student-Athlete Leadership Conference from 2000-2001. She also spent time as a team orientation leader and presenter at the NCAA Life Skills orientation program for new institutional members in 1998-1999.

For the past two years she has served on the D-II Championship Eligibility Project Team, on the NCAA women's soccer Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) and continues her role as a member of the CHAMPS/Lifeskills Advisory Committee.

Before joining the River Hawk staff in 1993, Lehoullier served for eight years as the Director of Recreational Sports for the University of Vermont from 1985 to 1993. She received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Westfield State College in 1983, and earned her Masters in Physical Education from Eastern Illinois University in 1984. Lehoullier is currently working on her doctoral dissertation in her pursuit of an EdD in Educational Leadership from UMass Lowell.
