The UMass Lowell women's and men's basketball teams host Southern New Hampshire University tonight at 5:30 and 7:30, respectively, in a pair of Northeast-10 Conference clashes at the Costello Athletic Center. Matt Futrell calls the action alongside Lynn Worthy, UMass Lowell's basketball beat writer for The Sun. The River Hawk women (2-1) enter tonight's matchup fresh off weekend wins over Caldwell College (54-48) and Bloomfield College (63-56) in the Valley Cup Classic. Last year, the Penmen swept UMass Lowell - 67-58 in Lowell and 59-55 in Manchester, NH - to halt the River Hawks 29-game winning streak in the all-time series, dating back to 1995. The UMass Lowell men, receiving votes in the latest NABC Division II Top 25 Poll, are off to a 3-0 start and look to avenge a pair of losses against the Penmen last season: 70-62 in Manchester, NH and 66-60 in the NE-10 Tournament Quarterfinal at the Costello Athletic Center. The River Hawks are back in action Sunday at Merrimack with the women tipping off at 1:00 and the men at 3:00. |
