LOWELL, MA (Oct. 27, 2007) –Senior MH Rhe-Ann Niles (St. Thomas, Barbados) compiled 28 kills to lead the University of New Haven to victories over Merrimack (3-0) and UMass Lowell (3-0) Saturday in a non-conference volleyball doubleheader at the Costello Athletic Center.

With the losses, UML slipped to 11-20 while New Haven improved to 19-5. With splits on the day, the University of Bridgeport stands at 20-15 while Merrimack is currently 15-11.

UML visits Saint Anselm Tuesday at 7:00 and caps the regular season at home Friday, hosting Pace (7:00).

Bridgeport 3, UMass Lowell 2 (30-25, 23-30, 26-30, 30-24, 15-13)

Junior MH Emma Ariyo (Kampala, Uganda) compiled 14 kills and eight digs as Bridgeport staved off UMass Lowell, 3-2. Sophomore OH Olga Sidorova (Ekaterinburg, Russia) added 10 kills, 11 digs and four blocks while junior OH Maja Baltic (Belgrade, Serbia) chipped in eight kills.

Senior S Maryanne Stafford (Auburn, CA) dealt 44 assists while junior OH Britney Owens (Payson, AZ) led the defense with 18 digs and served five aces.

Freshman OH Vicky Wong (Tewksbury, MA) led UML with 11 kills and 20 digs while senior OH Kristina Martell (Chelmsford, MA) and sophomore OH Elsa Le Grand (Highlands Ranch, CA) each had nine kills along with 14 and 13 digs, respectively.

Sophomore S Jessica Provan (San Clemente, CA) dished out 38 assists.

New Haven 3, Merrimack 0 (30-25, 30-24, 30-24)

Senior MH Anicia Wood (Wotton Territory, Barbados) registered 14 kills while Niles added 13 kills and 10 digs to lead New Haven over Merrimack, 3-0. Junior OH Charisse Cotton (East Patchogue, NY) added 11 kills while junior L Katrina Ali (Christchurch, Barbados) and sophomore DS Alessandra Valentino (Branford, CT) led the defense with 14 and 10 digs, respectively.

Junior S Yael Rosner (Haifa, Israel) dished out 41 assists.

Freshman OH Molly Cindric (Westlake Village, CA) led the Warriors with 13 kills and four digs while junior MB Kristin Applegate (Hampstead, NH) added seven kills. Freshman L Alyssa Pickert (Tinley Park, IL) posted a team-high 20 digs while freshman Elyse Lorenz (Frankfort, IL) dished out 31 assists.

New Haven 3, UMass Lowell 0 (30-17, 30-25, 30-23)

Rhe-Ann Niles compiled 15 kills while Charisse Cotton added 13 as the Chargers swept UMass Lowell, 3-0. Katrina Ali had 12 digs for New Haven while Yael Rosner compiled 34 assists and eight digs.

Kristina Martell led the River Hawks with six kills while freshman OH Kaitlynne Akroyd (Methuen, MA) added five. Sophomore L Allie Eide (Gresham, OR) led the UML defense with 11 digs while Jess Provan had 14 assists.

Merrimack 3, Bridgeport 1 (28-30, 31-29, 30-20, 30-19)

Molly Cindric compiled 18 kills and 22 digs as Merrimack completed the split, defeating Bridgeport, 3-1. Junior OH Ale Kuncaitis (Canton, MA) added 12 kills and 19 digs while sophomore OH Lisa Barr (Alberta, Canada) chipped in 11 kills.

Alyssa Pickert registered 33 digs while Elyse Lorenz dished out 47 assists.

Olga Sidorova and Emma Ariyo each compiled 14 kills to lead Bridgeport while Britney Owens added 11 kills. Ariyo also led the UB defense with 18 digs while Maryanne Stafford compiled 46 assists
