LOWELL, MA (Oct. 20, 2007) – Freshman OH Jillian Hadder (Yucaipa, CA) compiled a season-high 30 kills while hitting .471 as UMass Lowell defeated New York Institute of Technology, 3-2, Saturday afternoon in a non-conference volleyball clash at the Costello Athletic Center.

With the win, UML improved to 11-16 overall and enjoyed its fifth win in its last six regional matches. UML visits Stonehill Tuesday at 7:00.

NYIT slipped to 5-14.

In the tiebreaker, UML overcame deficits of 0-4 and 5-9 and denied NYIT match points three times to eek out the win. The Bears didn’t fall easy, however, as it turned back UML on five match points.

Hadder also added 13 digs and six blocks and committed only six errors in 51 attempts (30-6-51). Sophomore OH Elsa LeGrand (Highlands Ranch, CO) added 14 kills, five digs and five service aces while senior OH Kristina Martell (Chelmsford, MA) chipped in nine kills and eight digs.

Sophomore S Nichole Rondeau (Dracut, MA) dished out a career-high 65 assists and chipped in 10 digs and five kills while sophomore OH Allie Eide (Gresham, OR) led the defense with 24 digs, along with 24 service points, six kills and five aces.

UML also received seven kills and four blocks from senior MH Erin Hudd (Melrose, MA) and 21 digs from junior L Kendra Ciccone (Quincy, MA).

Junior OH Daria Skripka (Brooklyn, NY) led the Bears with 15 kills, 15 digs and six blocks while sophomore OH Shelby Klein (Orange, CA) added 11 kills and team-highs of 23 digs and six aces. Junior MB Dena McKinney (Fishkill, NY) chipped in seven kills and eight blocks while junior OH Zeynep Isik (Izmir, Turkey) had seven kills, 16 digs and four blocks.
