LOWELL, MA (Oct. 6, 2007) – Sophomore OH Elsa LeGrand (Highlands Ranch, CO) compiled a season-high 23 kills, five service aces and five digs as UMass Lowell defeated Le Moyne, 3-1, Saturday afternoon in a Northeast-10 Conference volleyball clash at the Costello Athletic Center.

The win was UML’s second straight as it improved to 8-13 overall and 5-4 in the NE-10 entering Tuesday’s match at Assumption (7:00). Le Moyne slipped to 8-12 overall and 3-3 in the Conference.

LeGrand also enjoyed her best hitting of the season with only two errors in 40 attempts (.525) while freshman OH Jillian Hadder (Yucaipa, CA) added 15 kills and 15 digs while hitting .407 (15-4-27).

As a team, the River Hawks hit a season-high .331 (52-12-121) and shined defensively as four players had 10 or more digs, led by sophomore L Allie Eide (Gresham, OR), who had 10 digs and seven kills. Junior OH Kendra Ciccone (Quincy, MA) and senior OH Kristina Martell (Chelmsford, MA) each added 10 digs.

Sophomore S Nichole Rondeau (Dracut, MA) dished out 38 assists which chipping in three kills and four digs.

Freshman OH Krista Prentice (Amherst, NY) led the Dolphins with 21 kills while sophomore OH Elizabeth Cheek (Huntington Beach, CA) added 12 kills and eight digs. Junior OH Jodi Smith (Angola, NY) had 10 kills and five digs.
