WORCESTER, MA (Oct. 9, 2007) – Sophomore OH Elsa LeGrand (Highlands Ranch, CO) compiled 17 kills and five blocks as UMass Lowell defeated Assumption College, 3-1, Tuesday night in a Northeast-10 Conference volleyball clash at the Laska Gymnasium.

Game scores were 32-30, 30-20, 28-30 and 30-18.

The victory was the third straight for UML, which improved to 9-13 overall and 6-4 in the NE-10 entering this weekend’s matches at the East Stroudsburg Tournament. The River Hawks face Georgian Court Friday at 8:00 and meet Augusta State and Kutztown State Saturday at 10:00 and 2:00.

Assumption slipped to 11-6 overall and 4-5 in the Conference.

Freshman Jillian Hadder (Yucaipa, CA), named the NE-10 Freshman of the Week Tuesday, added 15 kills while senior OH Kristina Martell (Chelmsford, MA) chipped in a season-high 13 kills along with 14 digs and five blocks.

Sophomore S Nichole Rondeau (Dracut, MA) dished out a season-high 53 assists and served 12 points while junior OH Kendra Ciccone (Quincy, MA) compiled 23 digs and 14 points and sophomore L Allie Eide (Gresham, OR) 22 digs and 12 points.

Sophomore MH Courtney Stratton led Assumption with 12 kills while freshman MH Aimee Drainville added 11. Senior Lauren Raswyck led the defense with 12 digs while freshman S Marilisa Strand dealt 36 assists.
