LOWELL, MA (Sept. 18, 2006) – Freshman middle hitter Elsa LeGrand (Highlands Ranch, CO) was named the Northeast-10 Conference Freshman of the Week, the Conference announced Monday.

LeGrand posted averages of 3.0 kills, 1.33 digs, 1.25 blocks and five service aces as UMass Lowell went 2-2 last week.

Le Grand opened the week with 10 kills, five digs and five blocks in a 3-0 victory over American International. She followed with six kills and four blocks in a 0-3 setback to Saint Leo in the first match of the Bentley Invitational.

In a 3-0 victory over Mercy, she followed with 12 kills, three blocks, three digs and two aces while hitting .476. She capped the Invitational with eight kills, seven digs, three blocks and two aces in a 0-3 loss to New Haven.

UMass Lowell, 7-6 overall and 3-0 in the NE-10, hosts Bryant (9-8, 2-0) Tuesday night at 7:00.
