Alexander, Gillis Repeat; A First For Tulley
LOWELL, MA (Nov. 4, 2007) – Senior defender Katelyn Campopiano (Chelmsford, MA) was named to the First Team and led three UMass Lowell teammates named to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Star Teams, released Sunday night.
Senior forward Tanekar Alexander (Warwick, RI) and sophomore goalkeeper Jamie Gillis (North Billerica, MA) were cited to the Third Team for the second successive year while senior forward Jenna Tulley (Chelmsford, MA) also earned Third Team honors.
UML is currently 11-8-1 overall (6-7-1 in the NE-10) and awaits NCAA Tournament pairings to be announced Monday afternoon on www.ncaasports.com.
Both Campopiano and Gillis spearheaded a defense this season which ranked fifth among NE-10 teams in goals against average (1.04 per match), goals allowed (1.05) and shutouts (nine).
Both were instrumental in UML matching the school record for shutouts in a season (nine) while Gillis eclipsed her own school record (eight, achieved last year) with nine this season.
Last year, Campopiano and Gillis spearheaded a defense that tied the school record for fewest goals against in a season (17).
Gillis played every minute of every match this season (1,820 minutes) and allowed 1.04 goals against and halted 91 of 112 shots (.812).
Tulley and Alexander emerged as UML’s top scorers this season. Tulley, who transferred from Indiana University-Purdue University-Fort Wayne over the summer, led the way with seven goals and two assists while Alexander registered four goals and four assists.
