Freshman Bonomo Places Seventh
KEENE, NH (Sept. 29, 2007) – Freshman Sarah Bonomo (Tewksbury, MA) placed eighth overall and seventh among scoring runners as the UMass Lowell women’s cross country team placed fourth at the 13th Annual Keene State invitational Saturday afternoon.
UML compiled 111 points (7, 18, 20, 21, 45 – 46). Keene State on the team title with 26 points while Springfield (66) placed second and Wheaton (82) third. Stonehill, which also scored 111 points, placed fifth as UML won the tiebreaker by virtue of senior Adrienne Lefebvre’s 46th-place finish (59th overall).
Saint Anselm (162) placed sixth and was followed by Assumption (194), Fitchburg (210) and New England College (228).
Bonomo covered the 5K course in 20:08 and led four UML runners in the top 21 places. Freshman Liz Carr (Randolph, MA) placed 20th overall and 18th among scoring runners in 21:06 while senior Holly Johnson (Tyngsboro, MA) took 23rd/20th in 21:23.
Freshman Ivory Farren (Tyngsboro, MA) finished in 24th/21st while freshman Jenna Nicoloro (Waltham, MA) capped UML’s scorers in 58th/45th with a time of 23:09. Senior Adrienne Lefebvre (Tewksbury, MA) placed 59th/46th overall in 23:16.
UML enters the New England Championship at Franklin Park in Boston next Saturday.
