W-Basketball: UMass Lowell Stages “Think Pink” Campaign for River Hawks-Le Moyne Clash
UML Joins Nation-Wide Effort for Breast Cancer Awareness

LOWELL, MA (Feb. 6, 2008) – The UMass Lowell women’s basketball team has joined forces with the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) for its “Think Pink” campaign for Saturday’s game against Le Moyne College at the Costello Athletic Center (2:00).

The WBCA's "Think Pink" mission is a global, unified effort for the WBCA's nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.

All fans are asked to wear pink and will be admitted into the game free of charge with a $2 donation to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. Members of the Susan G. Komen Foundation will be in attendance to provide information educational resources.

Also present will be a representative of UML’s Relay for Life organization who will distribute information about its May 3-4 Relay Rally at the Cushing Complex Track.

T-shirts will be given to the first 50 fans as well as the first 25 UML Women’s Basketball Camp members. There will also be giveaways and raffles at halftime.

“Think Pink” items – bags, t-shirts and hats – will also be on sale to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

UMass Lowell is one of more than 600 colleges and universities taking part in the initiative. Saints Medical Center is serving as the sponsor of UML’s “Think Pink” campaign.

The River Hawks enter Saturday’s game looking to snap a two-game losing skid, extended Tuesday in a 65-51 loss at Stonehill. Le Moyne enters the game fresh off a 73-64 home win against Pace.
