Women’s Basketball: UMass Lowell’s Bridgette Hooker Named to Northeast-10 All-Academic Team

LOWELL, MA (Jan. 23, 2008) – Bridgette Hooker, a junior from Belmont, NH, was named to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Academic Second Team, the Conference announced Wednesday.

UML’s sixth player, Hooker has maintained a 3.88 cumulative grade point average as a nursing major. The honor marked the second straight year Hooker was cited to the teams, earning Third Team honors in 2007.

Hooker has seen action in 16 games (two starts) this season with averages of 3.2 points and 2.2 rebounds in 15.8 minutes per game. She has posted season-highs of seven points three times and five rebounds four times this season.

A Dean’s List student all five semesters, Hooker has compiled several academic awards in two-plus years at UML. She has twice been named a NE-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll Gold Scholar (top five percent of NE-10 student-athletes) and is a two-time recipient of UML’s National Student-Athlete Day Award for maintaining the highest grade point average on the women’s basketball team.

A former standout at Belmont H.S., Hooker is the daughter of Bruce and Cathy Hooker of Belmont, NH.
