Joseph E. Hardman
'31 (Football &
Basketball)
(1982) - At Lowell Textile, Joseph Hardman was a four year
letterman in both football and basketball. A two-way
player on the gridiron. Hardman was outstanding on both offense
and defense. Many a Textile victory came as a result of
his catching touchdown passes from his end position or was
preserved by his sure-handed tackling defensive line.
Nicknamed "Jumping Joe," Hardman was captain of the 1931
football team. Hardman also turned in some fine
performances for the basketball squad.
Hardman was quite active with a
number of civic groups in the area. A past president of
the Lowell Rotary Club, he was also involved with the Lowell
Community Council of United Fund, Lowell YMCA, Westlands
Improvement Association, and the Lowell Rehabilitation Center.
