(1990) - The all-time leading scorer in the history of the women's basketball program, Chris Azzarito became the first woman to score 1,000 points when she reached that milestone January 17, 1984 against Southern Connecticut State University. The second female, and the first from the women's basketball program, to be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame, she was elected in her second year of eligibility.
Chris held four women's basketball records including most points scored (1,268) in a career, most field goals attempted (1,268) and made (545), and career scoring average (12.7).
The first women's player to be named to the New England Collegiate Conference All-Star team, Chris was a second team selection in 1983-84 and an honorable mention in 1982-83. She earned one ECAC Division II Player of the Week (Jan. 28, 1984) citation.
Described by former head coach Carol Mastacouris as a good all-around player, Chris was noted for her tough inside play and devastating turnaround jumper. She played a major role in the development of the ULowell women's basketball program which started in 1972 at Lowell State College. Respected by her teammates for her all-out hustle on the court, Chris was three times elected a captain of the team.
Twice the team's leading scorer (1981082 and 1982-83) and rebounder, Chris also played softball for two seasons as the starting third baseman.
