The charge of the Athletic Committee is to serve in an on-going advisory capacity to the Director of Athletics and to the Chancellor on matters relevant to the appropriate conduct of intercollegiate, intramural, club and recreational sports programs. The Committee will select a Chairperson from among the membership annually. The Athletic Committee is appointed by and reports directly to the Chancellor. Committee meetings are determined by a vote of the membership. Members of the Athletic Committee are:

Compliance Committee
The authority for coordinating institutional compliance efforts is vested in the Compliance Committee. The Compliance Committee members will serve at the discretion of the Athletic Committee, and will meet annually (more frequently if necessary). The Compliance Committee will consist of the following individuals:

Departmental Review Team
The responsibilities of the Review Team include: (1) reviewing on-going departmental operations; and (2) making recommendations on matters relevant to the conduct of the athletics and Recreation programs. Review Team meetings are scheduled bi-weekly throughout the academic year and as needed during the summer months. Membership on the Review Team consists of all athletics administrators; the Faculty Athletics Representative, and two (2) coaches as selected by all other coaches. Special project teams or committees can be established by a vote of the Review Team. Examples of project teams/committees include the Hall of Fame Committee, the Golf Tournament Committee, etc.
Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC)
The mission of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by: promoting leadership opportunities, protecting student-athlete welfare, fostering a positive student-athlete image and providing educational and community service opportunities. SAAC membership consists of a minimum of one representative from each of the department’s athletics teams. The Senior Associate Athletic Director shall be the liaison with the SAAC, and the group shall meet at least monthly.
University of Massachusetts Committee on Student Affairs and Athletics
The University of Massachusetts Board of Trustees provides oversight for all five campuses in the UMass system. The Board has established the Committee on Student Affairs and Athletics to oversee the intercollegiate athletics programs.
